Kids in hot tub, adults chatting, dogs running amok, and teens sleeping rounded out our morning. And our afternoon was full of games and adventures around the ranch. The kids got to help fill the hummingbird feeders and feed the chickens. I helped Aris make a family crest out of clay. Hopefully it will dry overnight and then we can paint it tomorrow.
The main activity of the afternoon was tie dying shirts. Everyone participated, even though some had to coerced. It was interesting to see everyone’s personality come out in the process of tie dying. Some were meticulous, careful with every drop. Others tried to finish within one minute and cared little about the final outcome. And there were the planners who used each rubber band to create intricate designs. Good times.
Dinner was BBQ and then we played cards, a game called May I, which our matriarch Grandma Grace taught us. It took several hours because we had the new generation learning the game (and also because of shenanigans from youngsters). And in the end, I won the game. Good on me. We’ve been laughing so much on this trip to the ranch. It’s so great to have a large, loving family. I’m so lucky.
