Thunderstorm and family

It’s been a day. Thunderstorms blew through our little hamlet of Las Vegas NM. It almost never rains in this state, so when it does, everyone takes notice. The girls all ran out into the storm, gleeful with the feeling of the drops on their skin. The air smelled so strongly of the storm because of the arid conditions. It was a tonic.
Yesterday we filled a large cooler with water beads - 60,000 of them. And today we played. The kids (and some of the adults) filled empty plastic bottles with them, creating magical water bead designs. And we played spa day by soaking our feet in the cooler of squishy goodness. Combined with the gentle rain, earthy smells and hummingbird neighbors, the back porch was paradise.
So much lazing around relaxing happened over the past few days that I think it will be a shock to leave the ranch tomorrow and head to Albuquerque. We’ve got plans, though, so bright and early we hit the road. Miky and Jen’s families left today, so we are a small crew of 12 now. More adventures in a brand new location tomorrow!
